HCMC – All of five Thong Nhat Express trains from HCMC to Hanoi are scheduled to resume operations on Friday after several trains have been delayed or cancelled due to severe floods in the central region over the past few days. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, director of Saigon Railway Station, told the Daily on Thursday that due to flooding in central provinces, many trains such as SE4, SE8, TN2 and some others from HCMC station were delayed in the past two days. The SE8 train that was scheduled to leave HCMC on Thursday was also cancelled. Meanwhile, four other trains running between HCMC and Hanoi on Thursday had to stop in Dong Hoi City in Quang Binh Province, from where buses were used to transport passengers on a 84-kilometer stretch to Vinh before they continued the train journey to Hanoi. At the moment, Phuong said, workers of Vietnam Railway Corporation are still repairing the damaged 84-kilometer track section. She said that the repair of the damaged track could be completed soon. |
