ASEAN musicians perform together to mark regional summit


Japanese conductor Yoshikazu Fukumura will lead the first-ever ASEAN orchestra to perform next week in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City
Eighty-four of the best musicians from ten ASEAN member nations and guest artistes from other countries will perform together next week in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

It was announced at a press conference on Friday that the first of its kind concert in the Southeast Asian region will welcome the 17th ASEAN summit to be held October 28-30 in Hanoi.

It is an important musical project that will further strengthen friendship between ASEAN nations and set the stage for the establishment of a regional orchestra in long run, said Pham Gia Khiem, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Directed by Japanese conductor Yoshikazu Fukumura, the orchestra will perform for the ASEAN leaders as well as the public at the Ho Chi Minh City Music Convervatory in District 1 (October 26), the Hanoi Opera House and the Vietnam National Convention Center in the capital city (October 28-29).
