An ancient Thang Long-Hanoi dance took place at the Ly Thai To flower garden in central Hanoi on October 4, attracting a large audience despite the heavy rain.
Traditional art and modern styles were combined to depict the country’s history until the Ho Chi Minh era.The programme included nine folk performances peculiar to each locality of Hanoi and two modern performances by professional dancers.
They covered classic stories and the cultural and spiritual lives of the local people in the past. They also featured King Quang Trung liberating Thang Long from the Chinese and Hanoi being liberated from French colonialism.
The programme ended with images of Hanoi including the international integration process.
